i cant believe we share a website with these people
They’re not wrong.
Yahoo is a terrible tech company whose only notable achievement is giving up the chat room industry because they couldn’t bring themselves to hire staff capable of fixing bugs and security issues. Instead they just closed that whole segment of their business down, and they’ve done nothing but limp on ever since. Now they have the person that used to come up with the themed Google logos as a CEO, and they just paid $1 Billion USD for a site they could have easily replicated with not even a quarter of that money.
These are the people we’re now relying on to maintain a robust platform for running our various blogs and websites?
I’m sorry but, this is a perfect time to abandon the fucking ship.
The rise of the pixel in cinema may feel like a recent development, but this year actually marks its fortieth anniversary. It began in 1973, with the release of a low-budget science-fiction film, Michael Crichton’s “Westworld.” The movie’s use of a digital effect for a total of two minutes—a now-routine process called pixelization, commonly deployed on Gordon Ramsay cooking shows to obscure a contestant’s cursing mouth—was the unlikely launching point of this revolution. — How Michael Crichton’s ‘Westworld’ Pioneered Modern Special Effects : The New Yorker (via thisistheverge)
How two Valve engineers walked away with the company’s augmented reality glasses
Three months ago, celebrated video game publisher Valve did something completely out of character: it fired up to 25 workers, in what one employee dubbed the “great cleansing.” At the time, co-founder Gabe Newell quickly reassured gamers that the company wouldn’t be canceling any projects, but it just so happens that one project managed to get away. Valve was secretly working on a pair of augmented reality glasses… and those glasses are still being built by two Valve employees who lost their jobs that day.
OH MY GOD HALF LIFE 2: EPISODE THREE! -
Gabe Newell can count to 3!!!!
Vault gear available now at http://store.bethsoft.com/
! (Honestly surprised it took them this long to sell official gear..)
To be fair. Bethesda has almost no direct experience in doing this sort of thing to begin with. It only makes sense it would take them an extremely long time.
Google, don’t turn off Reader. Signed, The Internet
Google’s sudden decision to sunset Reader — perhaps the best-known RSS reader ever made — has been met with swift reaction from high-profile users across the web
Wow, so. Um. This happened.
Google Reader is one of Google’s most popular services.
What the hell were they thinking?
Are they TRYING to lose all the good will their company has painstakingly acquired over the years?

Oh shut up, your computer was old anyway. What do you mean “howamIstillusingitwithouthalfthemotherboard”?
Do you have any idea who I am?
Fine, it’s chaos magic. Happy? Also, I am so posting this moment on your blog.
Well to be fair, your password is only ten thousand characters.
A bit of clarification here. This is not an excuse just to justify the whole NOT UPDATING thing I’ve been doing. I’m currently upgrading to a new computer and my old one is literally in pieces.
This post is coming from a rather neglected little laptop that needs far more love than I give it, and honestly it doesn’t have enough pixel real estate on the screen to properly write ANYTHING, let alone actually answer people’s asks. I realize I’ve posted almost nothing this month, and this situation is just making it worse, but I’m not dead.
Once I have my computer back up and running, and we finally get a grasp on that hole upcoming season finale weirdness, you can expect a lot more from me.
See you around everypony!
Oh and seeing as my personal blog is mostly a tech focused one, my new computer for those interested:
